Y & F Laborer - Warehouse

Overview

We are looking for a Y & F Laborer to work in our Warehouse.  

Duties: include but are not limited to warehouse cleaning, sanitation of food processing equipment, lifting heavy packages, loading bulk trucks, load bulk rail car operating packaging line and possible forklift/motorized equipment operation.  Other duties specified by employer or supervisor. Must be at least 18. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time. Must be able to work in below freezing temperatures and above 100°. Must be able to climb up stairways and ladders. This is a rotating shift.  Pay starts at $17.69, possible increase after 28 days.

Overview

Intended period of employment: 10/01/2026 through 03/31/2027.

Duties: Operate or tend equipment that cleans, slices, diffuses various products from sugar beets (Flumeoperation, Rock/trash catcher operation, Filter cleaning & operation, Lime handling & operation, Chipper

House operation, Knife filing & Setting, etc). Perform sanitation and clean-up duties (Clean floors,handrails, and work surfaces, pick up debris and keep work area free from clutter, etc). Sulfur addition to

maintain an even flow of sulfur into the stove feeder system (fill hopper, tally amount used, observe flowof materials, listen for machine malfunctions, monitor temperature/humidity/pressure gauges/etc, adjust

controls to maintain prescribed operating conditions, and notify supervisors if corrective actions fail).Observe, feel, taste, or otherwise examine products during and after processing to ensure conformance

to standards. Set temperature and time controls, and start equipment, such as conveyors, kilns, boilers, blowers, driers, or pumps. Observe flow of materials and listen for machine malfunctions, such as

jamming or spillage, and notify supervisors if corrective actions fail. Observe temperature, humidity, pressure gauges, and product samples and adjust controls, such as thermostats and valves, to maintain

prescribed operating conditions for specific stages. Other duties specified by employer or supervisor.

Starting pay is $17.69/hour, there is an opportunity for an increase after 90 days.  Shifts are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

 This position is physically laborious with lots of standing, and occasional heavy lifting with picking up sugar beets in bags. This is a seasonal job starting in mid-late September to mid-November at the latest. Starting time is typically around 6:00 a.m. and then you would work 8 to 12 hours; it varies.  We have pile grounds in Worland, Riverton, Midvale, Basin & Burlington.
 
Functions & Responsibilities
  1. Check any issues with piler and alert Leader or Supervisor.
  2. Ensure beet trucks are properly stationed on the piler.
  3. Communicate with piler personnel and truck drivers.
  4. Check tickets for each beet truck, checking if a tare sample is needed.
  5. Operate tare sample panel – roughly 15-25 beets per bag.
  6. Ensure the piler backs up properly and safely as needed.

Physical Demands

  5. Working up to 12 hours per day and the ability to stand for 12 hours.

Starting pay is $17.69/hour, there is an opportunity for an increase after 90 days.  

This position is physically laborious with lots of standing, but not a lot of heavy lifting except picking up sugar beets in bags. The hours vary 2-6 hours or more; starting time ranged from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., that position is dependent on the pile ground. You will be paid at least 4 hours per shift. This is a seasonal job starting in mid-late September to the end of November at the latest.
 
Essential Job Duties
Tare Side 
Dumping bags- lifting and dumping beets from bag into a lug, count the beets, rocks, tops, ext., write the number of beets on the ticket. The full bags will weigh 10 to 40 pounds. Also bundle bags in counts of 25. 
Dirty Scale- weigh the beets, be able to scan ticket, dump the beets into the washer and clip the ticket onto the belt so they come out on the dryer end at the same time.
Dryer- catch the clean beets and send them over to the clean conveyer. 
Clean scale- weigh the beets, scan ticket, put lug of beets into dumping station, and dump beets onto BRI saw when the person at the in belt is ready. 
Testing Side 
In Belt- receive the beets from the BRI saw when ready, gather some of the beet residue and put it on the paper, then put it on the scale to get the liquid, dump the liquid and residue with paper into the blender cup.
Blenders- keep up with the in belt, when blenders are done with their cycle then dump liquid into the filters with filter paper into an empty cup. The filters need to have powder in them before the liquid.
Draining table- make sure the liquid is filtering and keep the cups, filters, powder, and funnels rotating to keep up. Once they are done filtering pull them off the table IN ORDER. Calibration machine- once approved, pour most of the liquid into funnel and start the machine and the rest is placed under the tube meters.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of automatic valves and pneumatic controls.
  • Knowledge of the calibration of instruments
  • Knowledge of PLCs.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC5/SLC500/1400/110 preferred.
  • Understand digital and analog input/outputs of PLCs.
  • Knowledge of 4-20 ma transmitters, such as level, temperature, flow, pressure, DP, density, etc.
  • Experience with pneumatic control 3-15 PSI positioners.
  • Electrical and/or electronics background helpful as well.
  • Ensure efforts in planning and monitoring plant maintenance.
  • Maintaining electrical instruments, understanding 480volt-3 phase power motor control systems, PLC’s and interlocks.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment, reading electrical blueprints, running conduit and pulling wire.
  • Testing, troubleshooting, removing, and installing automatic valves.
  • Testing, repairing, cleaning, and calibrating positioners and actuators on a test bench.
  • Verifying correct transmitter operation. Removing and installing transmitters.
  • Troubleshooting loops from the PLC to the transmitters and valves.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all company policies and all safety, food safety, feed safety, and sanitation rules and programs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least three years’ experience in Instrumentation or similar position
  • Associate degree or higher preferred

Mon-Thurs, 6am-4:30pm (subject to change for Campaign)
