Plate and frame evaporators (3rd, 4th and 5th effects) were boiled last week and had minimal impact to factory operations. There was some sugar end downtime to replace a tail bearing on the dry sugar elevator and replace the gearbox on the wet sugar cross scroll. Overall, we had another great week of slice and sugar production despite the maintenance and operational issues that we faced. There was an adjustment made to the total beets received based on the final harvest data.

The factory continues to run well and we continue to see good extraction. We have hit the halfway point of campaign. We will be boiling the plate and frame evaporators again this week as vapor pressures have begun to fall off. | The factory continues to run well and we continue to see good extraction. Both slice and sugar production were strong for the week. Extraction remains a high point of focus as now it has risen to an unusually high number. We have checked both the cossette scale and production scale for accuracy and they were both within tolerance.

Lower slice and sugar production were a result of the boilerhouse upset from the previous week. We recovered nicely and were able to put together a decent week. Extraction losses continue to be top priority and we were able to jump to 80% over the weekend with some training on filter operation.

We had issues early in the week with 2nd carb gassing which resulted in fouling up evaporators. A planned shutdown was executed on Friday to replace the incline belt and take care of a number of other maintenance items. The boiler house was knocked offline when boiling one of the first effect evaporators which resulted in some significant downtime.

Slice was mostly steady for the week except for a 3-hour downtime due to the wet pulp belt slipping. Sugar production was strong for the week with minor pan boiling issues slowing things down early in the week. We continue to work to manage losses with focus on diffuser operation and the lime flume. The beet end was shut down for a couple of hours due to broken bolts on the dewatering scroll. We took advantage of the shutdown and addressed some other lingering maintenance items. After the evaporator boilouts, the sugar end reached full capacity at ~10,000 CWT a couple of days. This was slowed by issues operating the filters which caused other problems with the concentrator. Other issues on the sugar end stemmed from poor pan boiling. We continue to work with new operators and programming to obtain better overall operations. Chad

The beet end continues to run well with only minor downtime. Sugar production remains lower than we’d like. Low brix from the evaporators and minimal vapors to boil low raw pans slowed sugar production for most of the week. 4th and 5th effect evaporators were boiled, and 3rd effect will be boiled early this week. Lack of pH control in 2nd carbonation during startup likely caused the early fouling of the evaporators.

Beet end ran steady all week without any major downtime. The sugar end was taken down for approximately eight hours to melt out the white mixer to make a repair to the agitator. Sugar production hit 9,000 CWT late in the week but has been reduced due to issues with the low raw pans. We believe these issues have been resolved and are looking to ramp production up again.

Slice started at approximately 11:00 PM on September 25th and was shut down hours later to address a steam leak on the diffuser condensate system. There have been a couple of ups and downs since then to resolve minor issues but overall, we had a decent startup. Sugar production was minimal the first few days due to the ups and downs on the beet end but picked up to approximately 6,000 CWT/day later in the week. Filtration issues are hindering sugar production at this point, and we are working to fine tune the process with hopes of extending the cycle times on the standard liquor filters. | Slice started at approximately 11:00 PM on September 25th and was shut down hours later to address a steam leak on the diffuser condensate system.
